The Church of The Messiah warmly invites you to join us as we seek to know God and love one another. Our mission is to transform lives by offering people an encounter with the Divine.
We are a diverse, urban congregation of the Anglican Church of Canada in the heart of Toronto. We come to church for many reasons: some of us are firm in the joy of God and some of us still seeking; but we all know that here at the Church of the Messiah we will hear the Word of God and find fellowship and welcome.
We are a modern congregation with a solid link to Toronto’s Anglican past, and a passionate belief in the work of God in the present. Our church reflects Toronto’s multicultural society, and is open to its needs. We worship in a church that once burned down and was built back up – we are always reminded of the gifts and blessings of God.
We know that God changes us when we listen. We know that living the Christian life is both simple and hard; for “…what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” Here at the Church of the Messiah we are on a journey to do that – and we welcome all who would like to join us.

Worship and Upcoming Events
Pancake Supper! Shrove Tuesday, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, is traditionally a time for Christians to have one last party before the austerity of Lent begins our pilgrimage to Easter. Will will gather at the church at 5.30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 8, for a fun-filled supper of Pancakes, Bacon, and other goodies!
On Ash Wednesday, March 9th, we begin our observance of Lent by gathering for prayer at 7.30 P.M. at the church. We will each receive a mark of the cross made with ashes on our foreheads as a sign of our repentance.
Worship is celebrated every Sunday at 10.30 A.M. Additionally, a contemplative style service is held every Wednesday morning at 8.30 and healing prayer service on Saturdays at 2pm. Check out our calendar for more information about upcoming events and services.
Prayer Requests
Jesus instructed his disciples to pray for themselves and others, saying that just as a parent would give only good things to a child, so our God will give us what we need if we ask (Matthew 7:7-11). Therefore we pray not only on Sundays, but throughout the week for concerns brought to us. If you would like us to pray for something of concern to you, please e-mail us at this address: prayer "at" churchofthemessiah.ca.
