The Church of the Messiah is looking for the right person to develop our thriving children's and youth ministry even further. We are looking for an energetic leader to take our programs to the next level. Responsibilities will include:
- Work with church staff and volunteers to develop and implement creative and meaningful participation of children and youth in church worship services
- Train and supervise servers and acolytes to participate in worship services on a weekly basis
- Fully and creatively involve the children in the festivals of the church calendar
- Share in the preaching responsibilities of the parish
- Use the Godly Play curriculum for children up to 8 years old, and develop original curriculum for children and youth 8 years and older.
- Creatively integrate the children in the liturgy, using music, dramas, rhythm and dance
- Organize monthly fellowship activities for the older children and youth
- Increase the social awareness of our young people and develop an outreach component in the form of a service project

Visioning Workshop Held

The second in a series of three planning workshops designed to help set the course for COTM was held on Sunday, April 13th, following the 10:30 service. The workshops--which are being facilitated by experts from the Diocese--give everyone the opportunity to talk about their thoughts and hopes for the Church of The Messiah. In this workshop
The Rev. Dr. Isaac Kawuki-Mukasa led us in analysis of demographic data and our own experience to understand our context for mission. The group was able to identify some concrete needs we may be able to address, such as the need many in our community feel for prayer and support. Some other needs identified were quite specific--such as the need many mothers in our community have to gather together for fellowship and mentoring. The notes from this session will be made available to the larger congregation once they have been prepared. Also, a task group was struck to refine COTM's mission priorities going into the future.

The Church of The Messiah now has an article about our parish in the on-line encyclopedia,
Wikipedia. Here is a link to
that article. The Church of The Messiah is also mentioned in articles about
Avenue Road and architects
Gordon & Helliwell. Wikipedia is written and edited by the people that use it, so anyone can edit pages and add information. Our hope is that more information about our parish will be added in the future.
